Scouters - 1st Blackburn Scout Group

Becoming a Volunteer Scouter has many rewards to both the Scouter and the youth. Being a Scouter means being a part of a team: the Scouter team at 1st Blackburn is a group of friendly and motivated adults from various walks of life who work hard to enrich the lives of all youth.

Becoming a Scouter is a commitment to not only the youth, but to your fellow Scouters. The 1st Blackburn Scout Group meets on Monday evenings and also does a variety of fun and interesting events and camps that take place outside of the regular Monday meetings. Scouters must also complete training and reference checks to ensure the safety of all youth and fellow Scouters, including:

Scouting Fundamentals training, including Respect in Sport Training;
Code of Conduct;
an interview by two current Group Scouters;
provide five references, with name, phone number, email and relation;
a current Police Records Check for Vulnerable Sector;
Wood Badge I for The Canadian Path training.

The role of the Scouter is to assist, support, and motivate youth throughout their Scouting programs. Scouters also encourage, engage and empower youth to discover both themselves and the world around them in a safe and inclusive environment.
